I have a Focus ST Line (automatic) which I got new in December 2018. Before it went in for its first service today, it had a digital speedometer in the Information Display. As a result of the serviced, the digital speedometer has been replaced by an image of a Focus (car). I gather the garage did some software/firmware updates.

The stop/start system needs the battery to be near 80% in order to work. So one piece of fuel saving technology prevents the other piece of fuel saving technology from working. As you don't care for the function just be grateful that the system is disabling it for you automatically.
