I urge you to buy a KTM / Husqvarna bike that has the "new" 690 / 701 engine which has a different ( better ) valve train setup than the "old" engine. The would come in any Husqvarna 701 from 2018 on, any KTM 690 Duke from 2017 on, and any KTM 690 Enduro or SMC ( supermoto ) from 2019 on.
There’s not many other two-wheelers in this bike’s class, the KTM 690 Enduro being the main one, obviously, however the 701 is dearer due to its up-spec components ($15,995 versus $14,695), though there are more aftermarket parts available for the KTM, still, though that gap is closing. This is a great bike that rides well, with a superb

The new 690 has the big bike electronics of my 1190, has plenty of power, has more comfort (with a Seat Concepts seat) than the 450L, and has the ability to take all size trips. The GS movement showed people what big bikes can do and the KTM 950/990/1190 took the trips to the "real" dirt.

Personally, I value performance above all after racing enduro's for years, so I tend to lean more towards dirt performance now(in a dualsport) as my pavement racing was almost 20 years ago. The 690 is 50 lbs heavier than a 500 and rides much taller, but is more stable on pavement and has more grunt, and generally more relaxed over long distances.
In this video I check the valve clearances on my bike and make the necessary adjustments. This job was even more important to my 690 as I only recently repla

Poor KTM, they apparently update the 690 with the latest and greatest "new/gotta have" motor and (sounds like) they attempt to fix the false neutral/shifting issue that so many have railed against..but no love. Traction control and map select aren't important to me. But they seem to go with the territory

But we notice some differences in geometry inherent in their use. The Enduro R aims more stability with geometry values greater than that of the SMC R: caster angle of 27.7 ° against 26.4 °, trail of 107.7 mm against 117.3. Its wheelbase is 1,502 mm while that of the more road is reduced to 1,470 mm (-10 mm).

To recap, for my setup the old (with MotoMinded ) vs. new Rade Garage K3 fairing kit is a difference of 5.6 lbs. (2,548g.). As noted earlier, the entire weight of the kit is transferred to the steering head and bike. So in theory the handlebar steering should feel much lighter.
22 posts · Joined 2020. #1 · Feb 14, 2020. Decided to buy new 690 Enduro R and getting some quotes from dealers. Some still have 2019 models in stock and some will order 2020 models with a few weeks turnaround. 1.) The 690 Enduro is a unique motorcycle without any other serious competitor on the market. Also, it’s a proper platform for building a solid dual-adventure bike out of it. 2.) There are loads of reports and badmouth-rumors out there, which all mentioned the same: The 690ty is a great dual-sport-enduro, but very unreliable and suffers many
The 450 is much lighter than the 690, and will have more trail friendly handling and weight distribution than a dedicated dualsport. It also is much less powerful, which counter-intuitively tends to be a good thing offroad, especially in technical terrain. 2muchlaw.
