2012 F10 535i - Steering response affected. I was driving yesterday, when suddenly the steering wheel felt like electric steering system complete gave out, and a warning message saying "Steering response affected" appeared on the screen. I've tried restarting the car a few times, and even let it sit overnight to see if the problem would go away.

Hi, I too was looking a similar aged f10 at one stage but cutting a long story short picked up a 730d f01, 2009 with 60k for similar money from BMW auc. The f10 is a popular car but f01 has xenons It uses the same four cylinder 2.0-litre diesel you can get with less power in the 143bhp 518d or with more grunt in the 218bhp 525d. For most people most of the time though, the performance the 520d offers - rest to 62mph in 8.1s en route to 141mph - is quite sufficient. All you need do is remove the wheels, then remove the brake discs before fitting a small washer (part number 34 10 6 884 837) between the two components. After that, it’s wise to give the brake discs a good clean then refit them to the vehicle. It’s a pretty straightforward task that is covered in your Haynes 5-Series Autofix.
iTrader: ( 0) F10 535d engine top cover removal. Does anyone know how to accomplish the above? There are no visible fasteners, which leaves me presuming that it should simply pull off. Had a try at that whilst gently rocking it from side to side and back to front, but, although there's a good bit of movement, it doesn't want to shift.
The 525d had a 3.0 litre straight-6 diesel engine from launch in 2010 up until late-2011. Models made after that date had the same N47 engine as your 2011 3-series but with a larger twin-scroll turbo and different injectors, hence the higher power output. Whilst BMW continually made updates and minor alterations to the engine, even a 2013 model
F10 525d (2010-2016) As mentioned, the N47 engine is sensitive to premature failure of its timing chain. You should be especially cautious of models produced from March 2007 to January 2009. In October 2016, BMW officially acknowledged the problem and issued a recall. Another engine that’s sensitive to a failing timing chain is the N63.
I have had one year process with BMW now to locate the problem of vibration in the speed of 80-120 km/h. There has been checked tyres many times, changed, and have been test driving. Nothing helps. And now BMW told me that this typical problem for F10 then and they will do nothing!q3WcMn.
